Can I test out a sample film download before using the service ?

Yes – and we advise you to do so. We want you to see the picture quality our downloads offer – and to be sure it is satisfactory before you buy a title. You can download a sample extract (of 60-70 seconds) from each of our titles via the 'Films to own' pages. Our films are encoded at 1.5Mbps and designed to be of equivalent quality to DVD.

What software/hardware do I need to download and play film downloads ?

  • Microsoft Windows: 98SE/2000/XP with Windows Media Player 9 or 10 installed. You can download the latest Windows Media player for free here.
  • Apple Mac: Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later with QuickTime version 6.5 or later and Flip4mac installed. You can download the latest Windows Media components for Quicktime on the Mac for free here..
  • 512kbps Broadband internet connection or faster: A 512kbps connection will download one of our movies in approximately four times the programme duration.
  • Processor speed/Memory: Due to the high quality of our video we recommend a minimum processor speed of 1GHz and at least 512MB of RAM to ensure smooth playback. You can test your system by downloading one of our sample movies.
  • Sufficient space left on your hard drive: We suggest that you ensure you have at least 1GB (1 Giga byte) of space left on your computer before attempting to download one of our movies.
  • Sound card/speakers: You will need a multimedia capable PC with a soundcard and speakers in order to play back our files with audio.

How do I buy a download ?

It’s as easy as buying anything else online. Just browse our site and click on the titles you wish to buy - and put them in the shopping cart. After you have made your selection, click on the “Proceed” icon and you will be asked for a few simple payment details which we need to meet your order. Once the payment has been made your film will be ready to download.

Yes! We do not store any of your credit card details and only use approved payment process such as Paypal and ProtX to do our payment processing. In addition our site is protected by a 256 bit SSL certificate which, once you are logged in, provides a strongly encrypted connection between you and our server. You can see our certificate at the bottom of every page. Our SSL certificate is supplied by trustlogo.com.

How long will a film take to download ?

The download process will start as soon as you have made your payment. The length of time it takes depends on the length of the title and the speed of your connection. A 512kbps broadband connection will take approximately 4 times the duration of the programme, a 2Mb connection will take approximately the same duration as the programme itself. The download progress display on your web browser will show you how long the process will take.

What happens if my download or internet connection fails ?

If your download stops for any reason then you can restart it by logging back into Quantafilms and clicking the download link again. This is accessed via the 'My Account' page. You have 5 credits to restart your download should it not complete. If you run out of credits please contact us at sales@quantafilms.com with a description of the problem you are having and we will add extra credits to your account.

How often can I watch my download ?

As often as you like – it is yours to keep.

<< Back to questions

Must I be connected to the internet to watch my download ?

You need to be connected to the internet during the time it takes to complete the actual download. However, once the download is complete, you need not be connected – for the file of the film is now on your computer’s hard drive.

<< Back to questions

If I stop viewing the film, can I resume at a later time ?

As you have downloaded the film you can stop and start watching it as often as you like. You can also access any part of the movie by clicking appropriately within Windows Media player.

Can I watch my download on any device other than the computer on which it was downloaded ?

Because our files are completely DRM free you are free to move your file onto any playback device you own that is compatible with Windows Media 9. This could be another computer, laptop, personal video player or suitable DVD player. Please refer to your equipment manuals for further information on compatibility.

My downloaded file has .zip on the end, what do I do ?

All of our downloads are supplied as .zip files. We do this to ensure that however your computer is setup it will always download the file instead of trying to play it. Most computers have support for zip files built in. If yours does not you can download and install a free application to unzip your file such as 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org).
